Need clarity on employment in India after acquiring a foreign passport (German)

I’ve done extensive research and fully understand the entire process of acquiring foreign citizenship while holding Indian citizenship, including the legal requirements, document updates, and what I can and cannot do as a new OCI holder. However, there’s one thing I cannot find a clear answer to—how to handle my current private sector job in India once I acquire my German passport.

I am still in India and will not be travelling abroad until I get my OCI. My understanding is that the moment I acquire German citizenship (which will happen soon), I automatically lose Indian citizenship, making my Indian passport invalid. However, my OCI application will take a few weeks to process.

• What happens to my employment during this period?
• Can I legally continue working at my private sector job in India while waiting for my OCI?
• Do I need to inform my employer once I've obtained foreign citizenship, and will my employer have to terminate my employment immediately?
• Are there any workarounds, such as continuing as a consultant or applying for a visa?
• What does a realistic timeline look like for passport renunciation and OCI acquisition from within India?
