What would you do if the linen was not delivered to the entire building?

I did my usual walk around as a supervisor. I asked staff "are you good tonight?" Everyone said they were. The following morning the head of that department came up to me to complain that I didn't do rounds because there were several aides who complained about not receiving linen. I told him nobody told me so he said, "due diligence.... That's the word of the day. Nobody has it. Someone is lying. Is it you? Is it the aides? I don't know. Nobody got linens and I want to know why you can't walk around and ask?" So I just walked away because I'm not arguing with the guy. Apparently, I'm supposed to use my powers of mind reading and figure out if the staff isn't really good. I asked 2 of the primary nurses and they said they didn't tell me because they thought I was busy. I guess moving forward I have to be more specific? I have to ask if they have diapers and linen instead of asking if they're good. I would have assumed if I asked are you good and they don't have linen someone would have told me. Anyways, I still stand by the fact that if the head of that department didn't confirm linen was delivered then it isn't anyone's fault but his. I guess his employee didn't do his job and he should cry about the nursing staff
