Do you “get it”? What’s Oasis about?
So I opted to not buy tickets today. I’m mid 30s and grew up listening to Oasis mainly through my siblings.
I spoke to one of those siblings (early 40s) who was an absolute die hard who saw them 20+ times back in the day. And they revealed they won’t be getting tickets because the last thing they want to do is stand in a field with a bunch of bandwagoners who “don’t get it.”
Which made me think - what is there to get? What are the crowd that Oasis tried to appeal to? What are their key messages?
Putting my sibling’s snobbery aside, because my own view is if the music speaks to you, it speaks to you! The reason Wonderwall, Live Forever, Roll With It etc etc etc are so loved by so many is because they spoke to the whole of the UK, not some select few from the North. But maybe I’m wrong.
Did Oasis have a specific message they wanted to put out there, and do you think there is a risk that those attending will on the whole “not get it.”?
