Just wanted to share some love from a first-time owner.
So we got our golden (Theo) when he was 8 weeks old, and he's about 3.5 months now. He's really more my dog; I take him on walks, feed him, cuddle him, clean up after him, and train him to learn commands. My fiance has a more casual, leave-me-alone-and-I'll-leave-you-alone relationship with him.
It has not all been sunshine and rainbows! My family's always had large breeds and I knew they could be challenging, especially young. I also didn't want to do what my parents did, which involved a lot of physical intimidation to manage their pets' large personalities. But I think we're doing okay. Theo's very sweet and loves hanging around my feet during the day (I'm a writer), and although I'm getting stricter about him not pulling on the leash (battle of wills), we're making progress. House training is coming along as well, although the guides are NOT kidding about making sure you keep a close eye on pups for signs they need to go. Most of the time I catch it, but not always.
I call him my little monster, my tiny demon, but I really do love this ball of fluff. He's growing, fast, and it's a constant battle to get work done while managing his needs, but we're getting there. I've never felt so responsible for another creature's life before. I'd be devastated if anything happened to him.
Anyway. This is my first time posting here and I just wanted to share another Golden story. Please, if you have any cute puppy stories of your own, chime on in! I love the positivity in this sub.
