I wish the Soviet Union still existed.
I'm not even a commie. I just think that evidence of an alternative system of existence might put some fear into the hearts of our current round of oligarchs. Maybe labour protections would be better?
Fredric Jameson wasn't wrong when he said "It is easier to imagine the end of the world than to imagine the end of capitalism." But what I can imagine, vividly, is a world in which the USSR makes it to the 21st century with a hefty GDP.
