Looking for ATX to CHI Suggestions

Howdy 👋🏼 Looking for suggestions on where to spend a night between Austin, TX and Chicago, IL. We’ll be making a family road trip mid-March, 2 adults and an 8 year old kiddo. The goal is to make it out of Texas on day 1, spend the night somewhere and then continue on to Chicago the next day. Will be looking to do the same on the way back, with 1 night somewhere in between before coming back to Austin. First family roadtrip, haven’t been out of state with the kiddo. Looking for kid friendly places to stop along the way as well as suggestions on where to stop for the night. So far we’re looking at going from Texas to Arkansas to Tennessee to Illinois for the way there and then Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma on the way back. Just based on the suggested route from Apple Maps though, we’re not committed to any particular route yet. Car is a Toyota Camry, not AWD. We’d like to see some cool stuff but I know we can’t take any rugged routes in this vehicle. Appreciate any suggestions and insight. Thank you!
