[Discussion Thread] 2024 Scottish Open - 9th to 15th December

The Scottish Open headlines the third Home Nations event of the season, making its trip back to the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh, and rounds off the calendar year as the last televised ranking event in 2024 -- outside of the qualifiers for the German Masters and World Open in the new year.

The defending champion is Gary Wilson, who successfully defended the title by winning his second ranking title, defeating Noppon Saengkham in the final by 9-5. He will begin the defence of his title in the Last 64 round at the venue against Long Zehuang, the surprise Wuhan Open semi-finalist earlier this season.

As with all Home Nations events, the Scottish Open is using the tiered format, but the two rounds of qualifying have already since been played, having been conducted from 28th to 30th October.

As is standard with the Home Nations, the first four rounds are a best-of-7. The Quarter-Finals are a best-of-9 frames, the Semis' are a best-of-11 and a 17-frame final to decide the winner of the prestigous Stephen Hendry trophy.
