Im seeking advices on how to deal with the problem of not understanding some lines or words as a non native speaker

Lately I started to read visual novel. My english comprehension is decent, but lately I started to encounter a problem. In some visual novel where the english used is basic I dont have any problems but in some, where the language is more polished and full of idioms i never heard of, im kinda stun locked. I often find myself while reading on my monitor the visual novel, I search certains idioms, words, slangs or even word from archaic english I never heard of, on my phone. And sometimes the dictionary i use (Wordreference) doesnt have some words/idioms/slangs so I need to waste more time by googling to do a double check. And honestly it doesnt feel the best. I was wondering if any of you have any advices on how to deal with this problem. For example if there are better solutions as better tools/apps to aid me or even if you have any ideas on how to approach this problem.

In my native language the visual novels dont get translated (both from fan translators or from official releases) and honestly I dont want to give up reading just because of skill issue, and Im certain eventually I will get better. Im just seeking advice if you guys have any on how to overcome the wall Im facing right now.
