Didn't get refill, Plz HELP

I have been on xanax for about 20 yrs. I've been with the same pain management doctor for 17 years.

Everybody was told that he was retiring and the office was closing in December. I got my December’s refill and I was supposed to still be able to get my refills until March unless I was with a new pain clinic by that time. This past Thursday, I went to get my refills and found out that NONE of them were called in.

My doctor told me that if I needed to get in touch with him to get my pharmacist to call him on his private cell. My pharmacist cannot get in touch with him and there are about 15 of us. That suddenly are without our medication’s.

My question is how in the world am I going to wean off of 45 pills and not freaking dead?? I had absolutely no idea that my doctor would do this because I have been with him for so long. So now I’m not only going to be without my Xanax but also my pain medication but I am more worried about having a seizure or a stroke from not having my Xanax.

How do I wean off? What do I do? My pharmacist said I need to go to the emergency room because stopping cold turkey is just not an option and is very very dangerous.

I take .5 mg every morning and 1 my every night. If I have a panic attack, then I take one then, but I definitely take the morning pill and my night pill.

To make matters worse, I do not have insurance because I just resigned from my job and my pain management doctor was my ONLY doctor.

I'm in complete shock and now so freaking scared!
