If I use Braggart's Roar on a weapon, then swap it out for a stronger one, will the AoW still apply if I attack with the second weapon?

I can easily destroy Godfrey's first phase but second phase is pounding me into a grease spot. (this is not my first play through, but my first where i don't use summons). How do I damage him as a melee build because it seems like he never stops attacking?
