Honestly the set up looks amazing but I mean that is like 5 digits worth of synth gear, and all the more power to you to be able to afford it, I have no issue with buying fun gear but usually Reddit does, I was just surprised is all, nothing against you or your gear

Improvisation I think is the best way to gather ideas. A midi controller can do wonders. It humanizes the input so you play intuitively. It fuels your creativity, makes you find ideas you would have never thought otherwise.

I've recently made what I think is my best song using this process. I started by using my moog grandmother as a midi in cubase with a simple beat on my DFAM. I started with a really simple progression and just started building over it with other midi instruments. Then I started adding guitar and lapsteel. The result was a sound I've never achieved before. I'm generally all over the place with my approach. Sometimes I'll start with lyrics and craft the song around the lyrics. Other times I'll start with a guitar or piano part. Other times I'll start with drums. I found starting with the midi controller to be the most rewarding process out of all of them though, and I want to continue using this process moving forward. It definitely opened up doors for me that I didn't even know were there in terms of my creativity if that makes any sense.
