My brick fireplace originally had a slump stone facade. I'd like to do a concrete surround. I’m thinking the best way would be to drill into the brick and add rebar, build out a form, and pour concrete. I’m not very experienced with concrete...would it be inadvisable to attempt this on my own?

Post image
A community designed to promote discussion between members of the concrete industry while simultaneously serving those outside the industry through its member's career acquired knowledge. As one of the few trade subs that still allows homeowners' questions, help keep this resource available by using the search bar first to try and find answers before posting questions. We ask anyone who is not in the trade or adequately knowledgeable, refrain from giving advice so we avoid harmful suggestions

I’ve abandoned the drain to this wye and there wasn’t enough bare pipe anywhere to cut and glue a cap on. So I cut the pipe above the fitting and stuck a test plug in it. How can I plug this permanently without digging out and replacing the entire fitting?

(DIY-er here) PEX home run design - I like the idea of having centralized valves, but is ~70ft too long of a run for 1/2"? Would it be better to add 2nd manifold on right side of house for that single bathroom? Water heater is in garage, and future master bd will be built off back of garage.
